10 Ways to get Prepped for Summer // Checklist

Hey lovelies, Summer's coming so fast (this sudden heatwave in England right now, what's going on?) and like every year I can't help but feel unprepared. I've got a trip to Greece and Mauritius planned this Summer and if you're in education like me you'll understand just how precious those weeks of Summer Holidays are. Even though I've got so much to plan, to buy and to do before I break up from school, I'm determined to get myself sorted this year and so I thought I'd compile together a list of 10 Ways to get Prepped for Summer. Some of these are essentials and little reminders I forget every year, and others are random tasks and things to get you in the mood for Summer. Hope you enjoy and let me know in the comments below what you've done already or still have left to tick-off!

1. Buy New Bikinis and Swimsuits

Ahh the hunt for summer swimwear! I always leave this too late, but this year I was prepped with all my bikinis by June. Some great places I'd recommend if you're still on the lookout are Zaful (which has the biggest and cheapest range of swimwear - but watch out for sizes,) Boohoo, and Asos.

2. Get up-to-date with Love Island

Whether you're a lover of a hater of the reality tv show, there's no denying it doesn't truly feel like Summer until Love Island starts again. I'm obsessed at the moment and let me know in the comments which couple's your favourite? Do you think Adam's going to play Zara? Are Wes and Laura even compatable? I hate myself for how addicted I am to the show but I'm sure many of you can relate oops.

3. Tackle your Insecurities

I wrote a whole post about 'Bikini Bodies' and why I hate them on my blog this time last year and that got an amazing response and even though it's one-year-on the message is still just as important. Work on your confidence in the weeks leading up to Summer and realise how beautiful you are, so when it gets to a situation like putting on a bikini you won't have to doubt yourself once. It's easier said than done, but Summer is for enjoying yourself and relaxing, not stressing about your insecurities.

4. Smooth smooth legs

Sun's out - Legs out. I know not everyone shaves (but for those who do) treating yourself to a new razor, wax strips or moisturiser will definitely help you feel prepped for Summer. Get those winter legs out!

5. Make a Summer Playlist

Whether you're on a long plane journey this Summer, at home or relaxing by the beach, everyone needs a good playlist to hand. Start making this early, adding in all your favourite songs or separate playlists to fit each mood on Spotify and you're good to go. Having a playlist like this also means when you look back all the songs will bring back memories of that Summer.

6.  Suncream and Skincare Essentials

Summer all round should be the best time of year for your skin with all that sunshine and vitamin d, but of course that comes with a whole load of annoying things like sunburn and sweat. Prep for this by buying things like new suncreams (rather than that ancient factor 30 we all have buried in our cupboard!) moisturisers, and face masks. Protecting your skin in the months coming up is so important.

7. Treat your body Right and Get Healthier

While I don't support the whole 'bikini body' or 'lose weight for summer' thing, there's no harm in using Summer as an excuse to treat your body right and get healthier. I don't mean going on an insane diet, but improving things like eating better, drinking more water or adding in a few more ab exersises can make you feel so much more confident in yourself without any pressure. Listen to your body and you're already prepared.

8. Update your Wardrobe

There's nothing like going to your wardrobe on a hot day to find all you have are boots, jeans and all things Winter. For me, I find online shopping the best place to find Summer clothes (Romwe, Pretty Little Thing, Boohoo, and Misguided...) and it can make you feel so much more prepared and excited for the warmer weather. I've been busy searching online for Summer dresses and playsuits personally to get ready for my trip to Mauritius.

9. Treat those Feet

Ah feet. Not my favourite thing. But Summer means everyone's are finally coming out of Winter hiding, and after all this time they probably need to be treated. Exfoliate... moisturise...get a pedicure, just do whatever it takes to give your feet a bit of extra tlc in preparation for Summer. Really underrated!

10. Save up

Chances are if you're out of school or uni during the holidays like me, you're going to be going out with friends a lot more and oh no... that means money spending. I'm so bad at this, all my money ends up going towards food when I'm out in London or with my friends- but hopefully by saving up early this year I'll have enough that I don't end up broke by the end of the Summer.

Hope you enjoyed this post, I find Summer comes by so quickly and so fingers crossed you'll find this checklist helpful this year. I've got 4 weeks left to go of school now before I break up, and can you believe this will be my 4th Summer on my blog? If I remember rightly my first ever post was a Summer Bucket List (which is now taken down it was so cringy!) so I guess this post is quite fitting. Have an amazing rest of the week lovelies and I'll speak to you in next week's post.

  1. These are great ways to get ready for summer. Always like the feel of freshly shaved legs as well haha. Yes saving up is definitely a big thing- money just disappears so quickly (mostly on food too haha).
I am addicted to love island as well- my favourite couple is Jack and Dani (very popular answer)- they are so sweet though. xx

  2. This is such great advice and this is the stuff I'm sort of trying to do a haha. I'm not the most body confident person but getting a new bikini and makeup does give me a bit of extra confidence for summer! I'm also obsessed with Love Island, it's getting me so excited for my holidags (as long as I don't meet someone like megan or wes)

  12. This is a rad list! I think I've done about 6/7 of the 10 things on this list so far haha but it can be hard with work, if it wasn't for this heat it wouldn't feel like summer much with my workload :( Lol I'm actually quite out of the loop and need to start Love Island, because I follow so many UK people I'm always seeing the hype around it. Great post! :D
