Italy Bucket List // Wanderlust 02

Hey lovelies ... so long time no speak I know! As I type this it's currently the last leg of my roadtrip: France but this past week I have had zero wifi so I guess that explains it. It's actually kind of embarrassing how much I missed wifi this week haha and how dependant I was on it, but it's also given me the chance to just unwind with my family and visit amazing places like Saint Trapez and Monte Carlo which I've always wanted to go to. Anyway, enough about France, this week I wanted to do another Bucket List for Italy (which now feels like years ago compared to just last week!) The area we stayed in was Lake Como, famous for it's beautiful scenery, gorgeous italian towns and even where George Clooney has his holiday villa. Out of all the places we've been to so far, this definitely comes a close second after Amsterdam as my favourite and so I hope you find this bucket list of things to do // try // and eat here interesting!

01. Find George Clooney's House

So George Clooney owns a villa on the same Lake we stayed on and since we heard that he and his kids were actually staying there for the Summer I was beyond excited haha! We didn't end up finding it, but it was so crazy knowing that his house was right across the lake and I was always on the lookout. If you're ever there keep an eye out - who knows you could end up sitting the same restaurant as them in Lake Como!

02. Swim in The Lake

You cannot leave without swimming in the lake! On a hot summer day (basically everyday in Italy!) it's the most refreshing thing, and makes such a lovely change to the sea. Everyone is in there, armed with pool-floaties // kayaks // and snorkels and I'm missing it so much now!

03. Have a proper Italian pizza (...or three!)

Now I'm pretty sure we've all had a pizza before, I mean who hasn't? But how often do you get to have a proper stone-baked italian pizza, made with traditional family recipes, and actually in Italy! Italian pizzas are the best kind and so this was way up on my Bucket List. How I'm going to go back to average takeaway pizzas in England now I really don't know...

04. Catch a Ferry to the famous towns across the Lake

Lake Como is surrounded by lots of beautiful italian towns and it's so easy to catch a ferry round to all of them. We did this as a day trip (as I showed you in my What I did Wednesday post) stopping off at places like Bellagio, Melaggio, and Varenna to walk around the streets and of course sample ice creams in all of them. My favourite one though was Melaggio, so picturesque and surrounded by boats and the bright colours of markets.

05. Try as many Gelato Flavours as possible

It goes without saying that Italian ice cream is the best kind, and so I may or may not have made it my goal to try as many flavours as possible in the 6 days we were in Italy! They even did these tiny 1 euro 'picculo' ice creams like you can see in the picture which were adorable and I wish they had in England. Make sure to try the unique Italian flavour gelatos while you're there too: things like 'Tiramisu,' or 'Stracciatella' are amazing!

06. Try canoeing in Lake Como

The lake is always filled with boats and kayaks and since we spotted a rental place a little while down the beach we ended up trying it! It involved a lot of shouting at each other to 'row faster!' or 'stop going the wrong way!' between me and my sisters, but all the same it was so much fun and definitely a good family activity. The price for an hour was about 12€ and I would totally recommend renting one yourself!
