Heyyy lovelies! As it gets to Summer time, I always want to make the most of every day, not wasting those precious non-school hours asleep all day! I've been trying my hardest to become more of a morning person lately and thought I'd share some tips that have helped me to...well, not spend the whole day in bed! And of course there are 7 tips here, because you know me, I love my odd numbers hehe. This post is also a collab with lovely Jane from Marble and Roses, her blog is so beautiful I could go on about it forever, but be sure to check out her post at the end. We have both focused on positivity themed posts and I hope you like them :)
Tip 01. BEWARE OF THE SNOOZE BUTTON
I used to be so guilty of this, but I found getting into a habit of just pressing 'snooze' whenever my alarm went off only made me feel all sluggish and lazy once I was actually up. I know it's soooo tempting but always try not to hit that snooze button straight away.
02. LET THAT NATURAL LIGHT IT
Waking up gradually to the light coming in is a much healthier, natural way to start your day and it's actually been proven to disrupt your sleep cycle if you trick your body into thinking it's still night time. In Summer, the sun rises nice and early so what better an excuse to wake up!
03. A PROPER BREAKFAST
And I'm not just talking a quick cup of coffee on the way out the door, sit down and enjoy your breakfast! You'll find yourself looking forward to it in the morning, and it may just be that thing that drags you out of your duvet.
04. MAKE YOUR OWN MORNING RITUAL
Now this definitely doesn't have to be something like doing yoga every morning, by morning ritual I mean creating your own kind of routine or something you do each morning you simply enjoy. Part of my own 'morning ritual' is doing all my skincare bits as soon as I wake up (Idk why but I love it!) and going downstairs for a cup of matcha tea, it can be the smallest or silliest of things but all help you look forward to the day more!
04. GET SOME MORE SLEEP
Yep. the dreaded words no teen wants to hear! I mean why would you when you could be binge watching youtube and netflix all night, but in order to wake up 'bright and early' you'll need to get a decent night's sleep. I think at least 9 hours is the recommended amount eek, I'm still working on it!
06. WAKE UP THE RIGHT WAY
A tip for waking up the right way in the mornings is to make a morning playlist and this trust me, will make the start of your day a lot more pleasant. I make most of my playlist-style alarms on spotify and I'd totally recommend it... I mean, who wants to wake up to the apple default alarm over a Halsey song haha?
06. MORNING WORKOUT
Now I know this isn't for everyone, most people hate the idea of working out early in the morning but it honestly helps me personally kik-start my morning when I do this and makes me feel semi-productive! Even just a weekend run in the morning can make all the difference and even if you can't keep to it every single day, I would always recommend trying this!.
Overall though, I think one of the most important tips for becoming a morning person it to simply look forward to your day and smile. Take a deep breath and enjoy your day as hard as it seems, instead of being caught up in the stress that the morning and everyday life can throw at us.
I really hope you liked this post, I enjoyed writing it and hey, I might even do a couple more like this. What other '7 Ways' posts would you like to see? And thank you again to Jane, don't forget to hop over to her post: "Finding Confidence as an Introvert" which will be up tomorrow and show her blog some love guys! x
