Spring in Rye // Mini-Travel Guide!

Hellooo again lovelies! So last week I journeyed to Rye for a little 'weekend getaway' sorta thing, and also to celebrate lots of people's B'days in the family. It was such a lovely couple of days, and so I thought I'd compile all my photos together into a mini-travel guide style post for you guys today! Although we only stayed there for a few days, we saw and did so much around the town, eating at restaurants, staying in a cottage, exploring the little shops...and basically just experiencing Rye in the Spring (which was so beautiful by the way!) I thought I'd show you some things we did there and maybe recommend a few places, essentials and things to do when staying there as well as a few snaps from my trip - so anyway, I hope you enjoy this post and any of you find it helpful!

The Actual Place:
First of all, I thought I should probably mention where the hell Rye actually is in-case you were wondering! It's a small town in East Sussex, England, also right by the sea too.

Where we stayed:
We stayed in a cute cottage there (and I'd love to say little but considering how many family members we had it was actually pretty big!) It was just a 5 minute walk from the sea and ahhh it even had a thatched roof! Being someone who's lived in London all their life, it felt so odd to be staying in this cottage in such a quiet neighbourhood but I loved it.

It felt so relaxed there! In the mornings I would go for a run along the beach walk and it was the most beautiful place to run - especially in the early morning when it almost felt like the town hadn't quite 'woken up' yet. I really miss that feeling now!

Places to eat:
Even though it's a pretty small town, there are plenty of places to eat and drink there and so here's a list of a few of my favourites
Webbe's Fish Café - The perfect place for a restaurant dinner out with fresh seafood from the area
Hayden's Coffee Shop - An 18th century building-turned cute Coffee Shop
The Tuscan Kitchen - Definitely a place for a foodie! Open plan oak restaurant with an Italian theme
Marinos Fish and Chips - Umm and of course good old fish and chip shop is a must when you're by the sea hehe!

*Finally got myself a pair of dungarees whoop whoop!*

Random Essentials:
Sunglasses (We were so lucky with the weather this time and they may come in super handy!)
Running shoes (only if you're into running I guess, the scenery is so beautiful there though I think anyone would be after that!)
Purse/Wallet (You never know what you're going to find in those little Vintage Shops!)
Dungarees (I'm only really including these because I'm obsessed with mine now, but anything that you can layer up or down is perfect for that unpredictable Brit weather!)
Picnic Items (I loved having mini-picnics on our long walks or about the town!)

My favourite places in Rye out of everything had to be the shops. I mean, who doesn't like a bit of shopping anyway...but it was even more fun and interesting here with all the vintage shops and teeny outlets! You can probably see the picture of the adorable bath bomb shop I spent forever in, above. It was so small but filled with all things bath related (which as you can imagine was like heaven for me!) and don't be fooled by the tray of teabags at the front, those were tea scented bath melts too haha!
Things to do/visit:

The Chapel-down Vineyard - I wasn't overly excited about visiting there at first (it was more for my parents!) but after spending the afternoon there I loved it. It's such a beautiful vineyard to walk around, even if you don't go on a tour and I would totally recommend it as an afternoon activity!

Dover Castle - I'm sure you've heard of this castle as it's probably one of the most famous in England and it's only a 30 min drive from Rye! I went there for the first time while we were in Rye.

Spot the Bluebells - I love finding the bluebells every Spring, they just look so beautiful when you spot the great fields of them! It's always the highlight of the Spring for me and there are so many of them in Rye!
Go for a Beach Walk - So relaxing to do, especially on a warm evening when you can walk back as the sun goes down. Just search up a walk trail on your phone and there will be so many to choose from.
Vintage Shops - I could spend hours simply walking around these shops, even without buying anything! Everything was so unique and I love the aesthetic of the whole town really!

So that was my weekend in Rye in pictures I guess! Let me know if you liked the travel-guide style of this post and I'd love to do more for you, especially since I like to go on lots of mini weekend trips like this as well as big holidays! Just a lil' thank you for all your consistent lovely comments by the way guys, I really do appreciate every single one. Love you all, and I'll see you next week! x
