Sweet Cinnamon Cookies! | Recipes

Is it too late to say Merry Christmas now guys? Aw I hope you had a Fab Christmas anyway! I'd love to hear how you guys spent your Christmas in the comments (We had the whole family round, opening pressies and the spent the rest of the evening chilling out and playing classic family board games) I think I had an extreme overdose of Quality Streets too! Now it's kind of got to that time in-between Christmas and the excitement of New Year, and I'm not really sure what to do with myself. Then, I spotted some cookie cutters and thought, why not do some baking? These Cinnamon Cookies are the perfect treat for this time- not too Christmassy, but perfect for a cold Winter evening!

You will need:
- 150g of Self-raising Flour
- 150g of Plain Flour
- 125g of Plain Butter
- 2 Tsp of Ground Cinnamon (you guys know how much I love my cinnnamon!)
- 100g of Sugar
- 1 Egg
- Some Cookie Cutters

1. Preheat the oven to 160 degrees C (Gas Mark 3)
2. Sift your Flour and Cinnamon into a bowl.
3. Cream together your butter and sugar in a separate bowl until smooth, then add an egg and mix well.
4. Stir the dry ingredients in to form a firm dough. Then roll on a lightly floured board to roughly 5mm thickness and cut little shapes out. (I chose to do little hearts!)
5. Place them on a baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 mins or until they're a golden brown. Let them cool and harden, then dust a little icing sugar on and enjoy!

Thanks for reading! Wow, I just realised the next time I talk to you guys it will be next year! That's crazy. This has been my first year with this blog and I am so happy that I will be going into the New Year with it; all your comments over this time have honestly meant so much to me and I hope 2016 makes my little space on the web grow even more. Thank you for making this year so special, and I'll see you on the other side!

The Christmas Tag!

Okay, so first of all... 5 days till Christmas! It sounds crazy, right, where did December go?! Feeling a bit over-excited hehe, I decided to do the Christmas Tag. I've seen this many times online, from some of my favourite Bloggers, but what I've done today is kind of combine a few questions to make my own tag which I thought would be fun to share. I've also featured some Christmassy photos that I've taken around my house. So lets get started...

1. What's your favourite Christmas Scent?

I just love the smell of Christmas Cooking (Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Ginger) but my favourite thing ever is the scent of Pine. That Christmassy smell around your house when you first put the tree up!

2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas Morning?

Christmas Morning always! My sisters drag me out of bed at the crack of dawn they're so excited!

3. Have you ever had a White Christmas?

Never :(  I can remember having snow around Winter time, but I've never woken up on Christmas morning to see it snowing like in the movies haha.

Favourite Festive Food?

Gingerbread men all the way! I actually hate things like Christmas Pudding- is it just me?!

5. Do you prefer Giving or Receiving Gifts?

Honestly, giving- especially when it's little handmade gifts because I have so much fun wrapping them and making them look all cute haha!

7. Favourite Christmas Movie?

Home Alone, The Grinch, or of course...Elf!

6. What tops your tree?

Currently we have a copper coloured star on ours, which is really pretty becaus eyou can wind the fairy lights through it. I'm still not tall enough to put it on the tree though!

8. Christmas Wardrobe Essentials?

Socks. A lot. Of Cosy. Socks

*Spot Me!*

9. Where would be your dream place to visit for the Holiday Season?

Somewhere snowy where we'd get to stay in a little log cabin or somewhere cosy like that.

10. The Best Bit about Christmas?

Well aside from like everything haha...spending time with my family and visiting everyone on Christmas day.

So that brings me to the end of this post, thanks so much for reading... if you still are? :-)
I loved writing this and feel free to answer the questions yourself in the comments below! Merry Christmas Guys, I don't know whether I'l be posting more than once this week because of all the crazy festivities, but I'll try my best!

I nominate these people to do the tag:
Poppy (from Poppyrkay)
Olivia (from Olivia Alesha)
Florence (from Hello Flo)
Ariella (from With All My Affection)

QOTD: A random question you'd like to know about me?
I'm thinking of doing a General Q and A post soon, so I'd love you to leave me some questions below

Christmas Mince Pies Recipe | Baking with Little Sister!

So over the weekend I did one of my favourite Christmas Traditions which was making Mince Pies! I love baking in general, but there's something special about making these Mince Pies that just gets me in the Festive mood. They're so simple to make, but taste so good, so I thought I'd share my Short Recipe with you guys today. My little sister also insisted on helping out with the baking this year- so if you spot any squished or odd shaped Mince Pies, it was probably down to that little munchkin!

Anyone spot my Christmas tree in the corner of the pic hehe!

You Will Need:

- Zest of Two Oranges
- 10g of Butter
- Plain Flour for dusting
- One 400g jar of Minced Meat (I have double since I made two batches)
- 1Tsp each of Cloves, Cinnamon and Nutmeg
- A roll of Pastry (Yes, I got lazy and used ready-made instead hehe!)
- A Baking Tray

1. Dust a light amount of Flour on a board and lay the pastry out. Sprinkle your Ground Spices and Orange Zest over the pastry, then fold it over once and repeat on the other side. (I love adding the Orange and Spices to this because it just makes it taste so much more Christmassy!)
2. Re-roll your pastry until it is about the thickness of a Pound Coin, and start cutting out your circles to fit the tin. You'll need a larger cutter for the bottom and a slightly smaller one for the top of your Mince Pies.
3. Melt the Butter and use to brush the tin so The Mince Pies don't stick. Then, gently place your circles in the bottom of the tin before filling with roughly a Teaspoon of Mince Meat each. Pop the pastry lid of the Mince Pies and next and brush the tops with a little milk. (I let my little sister cut out some cute little stars and hearts to put on the top of ours too!)

4. Slide the tray in the oven at 170ยบc for up to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Take out, cool, and enjoy (I love having mine warm with a Christmassy drink like hot chocolate!)

The Spices give it such a Christmassy taste! Especially the Nutmeg which always reminds me of Christmas!

My sister was desperate to try them as soon as they came out of the oven! It literally took all her will-power to wait until they were cool, then I made us both a hot chocolate and we sat in front of the fireplace with a Mince Pie each. She did reminded me to save some for Santa too haha!
Hope you enjoyed this post, I just realised I haven't ever made a baking post on this blog before so comment down below if you think I should do it more often. Thanks for reading lovelies, your comments really mean the world to me!
